During the year EPSO, the European Personnel Selection Office, announces open competitions for positions within the EU institutions. The highly competitiveness makes good preparation essential.

ASERI will offer a comprehensive course on how to prepare for both stages of the competitions: the pre-selection tests and the admission assessment centre (AC), together with an overview of the EU global scenarios, case studies, group exercises, oral presentations and structure interviews.

The training will be structured in three days, as follows:


Wednesday, April 11

Module 1 - Towards the EPSO Competitions - (6 hours)

  • Introduction to the learning path
  • The European Administration, some main distinctive elements
  • The European Civil Service, history, facts and figures
  • Career development / Job opportunities: a career inside the Common Institutions
  • Rights and obligations: main issues about staff regulations and working conditions

Thursday, April 12

Module 2 - Pre-selection: introduction to Computer Based Testing (CBT) - (8 hours)


Session A

A short introduction to EPSO

Computer Based Testing: what it is and how it is advisable to approach the test

  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Numerical Reasoning
  • Abstract Reasoning
  • Situational Judgement

Session B

  • Verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, abstract reasoning, and situational judgment tests: some practice
  • How to write a good application
  • Mock CBT - practical exercise
  • Working at the European Commission in Brussels, Q&A Session.

Friday, April 13

Module 3 - The Second Stage of Open Competitions: Assessment Centre (8 hours)

  • Introduction to the Assessment Centre: objects, functioning, roles, subjects involved
  • Case Studies and Group Exercises: a participated simulation
  • Oral Presentations: how to manage a presentation successfully and to manage stress related to speaking in public
  • Structured Interviews: main guidelines
  • Content review and closing session

Participants profile
This seminar is thought for those applying as administrators (AD) and assistants (AST) within the EU Institutions.

Training language
The course will be conducted in English, the language of the selection procedure.

Number of participants
To ensure the high quality of learning and interaction, the maximum number of admitted students is limited to 20.

Commitment required to the participants
The preparatory course for the new EPSO Competition is intended as an intense course. Participants will be required to dedicate adequate time to fulfil the requirements.
