Maestri Elena

Elena Maestri holds the course of History and Institutions of the Muslim World at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milano). Throughout her long academic and scientific research activity, she has focused on the history, politics and societies of the Gulf Arab States, on gender issues and Islam, development and cooperation in the GCC, and the media in the Arab-Muslim world. She has been one of the first Western scholars to carry out research in Arabia since the early 1990s. She has participated in many international conferences and workshops, and she is author and co-author of several books and many specialized studies, research papers, articles and book-chapters. "Arab Women and the Media in Changing Landscapes", that she co-authored and co-edited, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2017. Her most recent publications are a volume on "The Arabian City and its Territory. Historical Identity and Heritage Issues", published in 2019 by EDUCatt (Milano), and "Migration and Integration Challenges of Muslim Immigrants in Europe", co-authored and published in the “Politics of Citizenship and Migration Series” of Palgrave Macmillan in 2021.
