Antonio De Lauri, Ph.D., is Senior Researcher at the Chr. Michelsen Institute in Bergen, Norway. He holds a PhD in "Human Sciences: Anthropology of the Contemporary" (2010). He has conducted research in Afghanistan and Pakistan and has published on issues related to legal reconstruction, human rights, injustice, corruption, judicial practice, war, forms of extreme dependence, freedom, humanitarianism. He is currently working on a project on humanitarian militarism from the perspective of European soldiers.
From 2014 to 2016 Antonio was lecturer of Anthropoliogy Cultures and Societies of the Middle East at the University of Milan-Bicocca. In 2012/2013 he was Rechtskulturen fellow at the Forum Transregionale Studien (Humboldt University and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin), having previously been a recipient of the Fernand Braudel International Fellowship for Experienced Researchers (Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, Paris). In 2010 he was visiting scholar at the Department of Anthropology of Columbia University (New York).
