Valeria Patruno graduated in Political Science from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in 1998. She is currently CEO of IAL Puglia social enterprise that focuses on workforce development, education and research.
She has been responsible of the intervention of the NGO ISCOS in Asia - in particular in the field of human and workers' rights promotion and protection, the strengthening of democracy and rule of law and the role of civil society organizations. She is also lecturer of the course in International Structures for Cooperation at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Macerata, Italy.
Expert of local development and methodologies of participative research, she worked for the UNDP in Kosovo, in the sector of governance and local development, and for ILO in the field of democratic and trade-union organizations in the developing countries. She was also project manager for rural development projects in Mozambique and projects promoting human rights in Pakistan, Thailand and Burma/Myanmar.
She had been a researcher for the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and she provided consultancies for Amnesty International and the Spanish Committee for the UNHCR.
