Policy Roundtable:
Switching the Gears of Europe’s Energy and Climate Security Strategy: The View from Italy
Wednsday 26 October 2022, h 9.30 - 11.30
at ASERI (Via San Vittore 18) and ONLINE
The conference will be in English
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has put the Italian energy and climate security through its most difficult test so far. The current geopolitical crisis has demonstrated that Italy needs to put energy security and its governance back at the top of its policy priorities. Italy has emerged as one of the most vulnerable countries in terms of security of supply risks and geopolitical exposure to Russia. Accelerating the energy transition, in line with the REPowerEU plan, is the main path to energy independence, although not without its own challenges.
The Graduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) and the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) are organising a policy roundtable with key Italian and European experts and policy-makers to try to define possible solutions to the European energy and climate security crisis and the role that Italy will play in solving it.
