The fight against forest fires between climate change and gut rules

Monday 14 March 2022, 6.30 pm
in ASERI (Via San Vittore 18) and ONLINE

Professor Vittorio Emanuele Parsi will dialogue with the

Dr. Mauro Casinghini, Director of the Regional Civil Protection Agency of the Abruzzo Region

Climate change: a recurring theme addressed between increasingly impactful emergencies and the substantial inability to cope with it. If on the one hand the atmospheric phenomena that affect us take on increasingly frightening proportions, on the other hand we cannot contain the destruction of the carbon reservoirs that we have in front of our eyes: our forests. And, on a wave that is more emotional than rational, politics produces rules that neglect the most elementary principles of civil protection, such as prevention.

Mauro Casinghini is the Director of the Regional Civil Protection Agency of the Abruzzo Region. He has a degree in Civil Protection from the University of Perugia and a master's degree in Environmental Risk and Civil Protection from the Polytechnic University of Marche.
He holds a Master's degree in Risk Analysis and Emergency Management and has participated in interventions following numerous national and international emergencies. An official of the Civil Protection Department at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, from 2007 to 2018 he was National Director of the Order of Malta's Italian Relief Corps, building, among other things, the medical rescue of migrants at sea together with the Italian Coast Guard.
