"The privatization of knowledge" argues that a paradoxical situation has been created: today's science was born as a public good, but ends up being privatized. This mechanism produces social inequality.
Massimo Florio is Professor of Finance at the University of Milan. In recent years he has been involved in the cost-benefit analysis of research infrastructures (Investing in Science, MIT Press, 2019) and the social impact of science.
