"If we are naturally relational, how can we be indifferent?" By nature, the individual is an intersubjective and relational being: the "I" exists because the other exists. We are born to feel what the other feels, making room between the said and the unsaid, yet there is a deep crack in our social bonds. Indifference creeps in, one of the most challenging issues of our time. Is it possible to think of an "I" without a "we"? If empathy is an integral part of our being, then how does indifference arise? In our world panorama in crisis, where are the changes, the openness to knowledge, the approach to the other? This is the starting point for Ugo Morelli's careful and precise analysis, trying to understand the ways of acting of indifference and possible ways to overcome it.
