The Hamas attack of October 7, 2023 and the war that followed caused trauma in Israel and the world. The book explains how Israeli Jewish society had sunk in the last twenty years into a comfort zone, with a process of collective removal of the reality in which it found itself: the narratives inculcated by political leaders, the author explains, have forged the consciousness of Israeli Jewish society by presenting half-truths about the past, concealing the present and describing a partial vision of the future.
The Trap of Intractable Conflicts explains how the psychology of the occupation of the West Bank and the ideas underlying it have corrupted Israeli Jewish society to the point of diverting its democratic development with the rise of an authoritarian regime marked by extremist nationalism and religious fanaticism that has been among the causes of the war in Gaza.
