The monograph summarizes the results of a research project, conducted at ASERI-Alta Scuola di Economia e Relazioni Internazionali of Università Cattolica and promoted by Federcongressi&eventi, with the aim of detecting the economic and financial situation of companies operating in the Italian meeting industry by carrying out congress organization activities, in order to outline the fundamental aspects that characterize the sector and to investigate the fundamental factors that determine the level of sustainability of the Professional Conference Organizers' business model.
The first part of the monograph focuses on the analysis of the financial statements, from 2017 to 2022, of congress organization companies, whose main activity is classified with the ATECO code 82.30-Organization of conferences and fairs, with a turnover of at least 400,000 euros, and presents progressive insights into the trend over time of economic and equity data, with reference both to all the companies analyzed and to the average values recorded by the companies according to their turnover class.
The second part of the monograph reports the results of empirical research conducted, with the collaboration of a Federcongressi&eventi working group, on a significant sample of congress organization companies during 2023, which allows for an in-depth analysis of the management and organizational dynamics of the companies covered by the research.
The monograph offers all Professional Conference Organizers operating in Italy both a systematic and updated picture of the value generated by the sector, and a set of useful data to analyze their positioning and to configure new competitive strategies, thanks also to the numerous positioning maps that graphically highlight the competitive situation of companies.
