EU Economic Governance
While economic policy is still made at the national level, over the past decade the European Union has gained more competencies in ensuring policy coordination among its Member States. This module aims at helping the participants to acquire a basic understanding of the EU economic policy and governance, the reforms taken in the wake of the financial and sovereign debt crises and at finding their way amidst the most recent developments. Emphasis is placed on the functioning of the EU economic and monetary union, the evolution of the EU monetary and fiscal policies, the role of the EU budget and how the financial and sovereign debt crises followed by the worldwide pandemic caused by Covid-19 have impacted the EU economic strategies as well as its central governance at EU-level.
