Through the encounter between different disciplinary perspectives, the collective volume Fractures in the Union. Europe within the crises of the twenty-first century aims to provide an articulated and complex picture of the current phase of the European Union and the fractures that cross society and politics of the Old Continent. The essays range from the critical theory of European integration to the analysis of the contradictions of the supranational order; from the crisis of the European social model to austerity and its gender impact; from the politicization of Europe to the growing Euroscepticism, passing through the theme – increasingly relevant today – of technocracy. Taking the theme of "fractures" as its interpretation, the book offers the reader a compass to orient themselves in the political and social dynamics of the European present.
