The volume offers for the first time a complete picture of the history of political skepticism, represented by some of the most influential, but politically "inconvenient" authors of Western thought, from Pyrrho to Rorty, passing through Guicciardini, Montaigne, Hume, Russell and others, united by anti-dogmatism and a style that favors hypothesis over infallible certainty, moderation over enthusiasm, Conversational truth to the final solution

Spartaco Pupo, associate professor of History of Political Doctrines at the University of Calabria, is a scholar of the political thought of David Hume, the Scottish Enlightenment and Western skepticism. Among his works: The Community and its Enemies (2008), Politics without "Us" (2011), David Hume (2020).
