ASERI strengthens its presence at an international level.
On Thursday, June 11th, a delegation of the Graduate School, led by Director Prof. Damiano Palano and composed of Prof. Riccardo Redaelli (Director of MICAD), Prof. Paolo Maggiolini (Director of MIMES) and Dr. Giorgia Perletta, took part in the seminar Role of Diplomacy in Conflict Resolution, organized in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Diplomacy of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Poland.
The speakers had the opportunity to address the most pressing issues concerning the role of diplomacy in the management and resolution of conflicts, at the global and regional levels.
In particular, the ASERI delegation dealt with the Mediterranean area, with Director Damiano Palano opening the proceedings.
Prof. Redaelli, with his speech The Gulf War and Its Spillover Effects: Mapping Actors, Expectations, and Perceptions of Threats delved into the current war in the Gulf, together with its regional implications; Prof. Maggiolini, on the other hand, dedicated his contribution Faith, Diplomacy, and Power: Italy's Perspective on Religious Engagement in the Contemporary Middle East to the Italian perspective on the role of religion in Middle Eastern foreign policy and domestic politics; Dr. Perletta, on the other hand, has the task of analyzing the role of the European Union in the Iranian nuclear issue in the last twenty years (The European Union's Role in the Iranian Nuclear Issue: From the E3 (2003–2005), through the P5+1, to the Failure to Defend the JCPOA after the U.S. Withdrawal in 2018).
ASERI speakers joined the roundtable together with Prof. Kamil Zajączkowski (University of Warsaw), Prof. Urszula Soler (Warsaw University of Life Sciences), and Dr. Michał Wójcik (Center for the Study of Diplomacy – John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin).
ASERI would like to thank Prof. Beata Piskorska (John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin) and Anna Golec-Mastroianni for their collaboration in organizing this seminar, a first valuable step in the "Polish-Italian Academic Diplomacy" project involving Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.
