Guest:
Nicholas J. Cull, Professor of Public Diplomacy, Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California

Relator:
Antonio Zotti, Assistant Professor of International Relations and European Institutions, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart

In this talk, Prof. Cull will introduce his concept of Reputational Security, a way to understand the reinforcement of security that is achieved in a place when it is well considered. The talk will be based on history, but will include recent examples of how reputation has helped a state in times of crisis. Care will be taken to contrast this new concept of Reputational Security with the more familiar term Soft Power. The main differences include the openness of Reputational Security to collective work at the suprastate level and the need for political reforms to build better realities to support the desired image.
