Prof. Palano is Full Professor in Political Science at the Political Sciences Department of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, where teaches Political Communication. He is currently engaged in a research project on the transformation of the State and the change of the political space.
Recent publications include the books Il potere della moltitudine. L'invenzione dell'inconscio collettivo nella teoria politica e nelle scienze sociali italiane tra Otto e Novecento (Vita e Pensiero, Milano, 2002, pp. 602) and Geometrie del potere. Materiali per la storia della scienza politica italiana (Vita e Pensiero, Milano, 2005, pp. 460), and the articles "Uno spazio politico per la dimensione regionale?" (in V.E. Parsi, Lo spazio politico della regione, Vita e Pensiero, Milano, 2003), and "Fino alla fine del mondo" ("Teoria politica", 2-3/2003).
He serves on the "Vita e Pensiero" and "Città e Società" editorial boards.

Elements of compared politics
The aim of the course is to provide theoretical and methodological tools for the study of contemporary political systems in a comparative key. In particular, the course focuses on democratization processes, observed both from a perspective internal to individual political systems, and from a perspective capable of grasping the connections with the international system and its historical transformations.
