Overview

Providing students with the tools and knowledge they need to be able to operate in the world, for the world.

This is the aim of the First Level Specialising Master in International Cooperation and Development, an interdisciplinary training course, which aims to provide possible solutions to the problems of inequality, poverty, instability and conflict that afflict the majority of the world's population.

The First Level Specialising Master in International Cooperation and Development is designed for:

  • Recent graduates, first or second level, with a strong interest in deepening the dynamics of cooperation and development, and in acquiring theoretical and professional skills;
  • Young professionals, eager to deepen their professional skills in the field of international cooperation;
  • Advanced professionals, with the aim of updating and enhancing their skills, and enhancing their experience in development issues at a global level.

FIVE REASONS TO CHOOSE MICAD

  • An interdisciplinary, innovative and international path, which aims to train development professionals at a global level;
  • A faculty from the world, for the world, with professors and professionals who work every day in the field of international cooperation;
  • A development of theoretical and applied skills, in order to operate with impact in situations of instability;
  • A personalized path of orientation and professional enhancement, with a figure dedicated to accompaniment and support in the search for the internship;
  • An internship experience of at least 3 months, in Italy, or in the world, in order to apply the knowledge acquired.
Program

The First Level Specialising Master includes six months of classroom training, in ASERI, followed by about five months dedicated to the internship experience and the drafting of the final Project Work.
Classroom training will consist of lectures and practical workshops in presence.

The aim of the teaching is to provide MICAD students with the theoretical and practical tools and knowledge to be able to analyze, understand, and provide solutions to development problems within and between countries in the world. At the end of the course, MICAD graduates will be able to start a professional career in the domain, and contribute to building bridges between populations, civilizations and countries at an international level.

The First Level Specialising Master in International Cooperation and Development is characterized by a multidimensional and interdisciplinary approach, throughout the duration of he four distinct levels of the course.

The in-depth scientific and professional training programs are closely connected, so as to allow a constant dialogue between theory and practice: experience in the field allows the opening of new lines of research, while systematic reflection on practical activities allows continuous learning.

At a scientific level, MICAD explores international development issues, studying its Economics, Law and related institutions. Geopolitics, conflict situations and the management of post-conflict contexts will also be explored.

All this in order to provide context to the Project Cycle Management processes and the Theory of Change.

Vocational training, on the other hand, focuses on Development Actors and Strategies, Prevention, Rescue and Recovery for emergency situations. Human Rights issues and their application in situations of conflict and instability will also be explored.

-          How to actively contribute to building "bridges" for development, with a bottom-up approach;

-          How to involve local civil society to identify its resources, and to manage them in the best possible way;

-          Understand the technical, financial and administrative dynamics of cooperation initiatives;

-          Collaborate with national and international institutions, within local policies;

-          Promote initiatives of good governance, respect for human rights and dignity with state and non-state actors;

-          To seek and formulate solutions to transnational issues, such as migration and illicit trafficking;

-          Actively contribute to the building of processes, institutions and democratic governance in the world.

The final calendar of courses will be made available shortly.

However, the Master will follow the following structure:

January 2026 - June 2026: courses and lectures
July 2026 - November 2026: Internship and Project Work
December 2026: Graduation
